McWhinney Points

Relatively long, narrow points

One side of the blade frequently has a lengthwise ridge along the long axis

Stem rather short in comparison to the blade

Stem form varies from straight to flared

Basal edge straight to slightly concave

Cortex (outer surface of the flint pebble or block from which the point was chipped) often still in place on base of stem

Size: 1¾ to 3½ inches long

Late Archaic ca 4000-1000 BC
